Run for Josh

Jerusalem Marathon, March 27, 2026

Jerusalem was the city Josh Boone chose to call home.

It is where he lived, worked, and built a community around him.
This is where we run for him.

Josh Boone was a lone soldier, a leader, and an active board member of the Never Alone organization. Never Alone trains and supports soldiers before the draft and stands by lone soldiers throughout their service, especially those who come to serve without family support. Never Alone is a family far from home, and Josh was a central part of that family.

Josh came to Israel to serve. He believed in protecting others and often said he came to be a “sheepdog.” From the day he arrived in Israel until the day he passed away, he gave his life to the country he loved most. His service did not end when the uniform came off.

Today, many feel deep pain and responsibility over the fact that Josh was denied the military burial he deserved. This run is our way of saying that his sacrifice matters, that his values matter, and that we will not stay silent.

PTSD is one of the most urgent challenges facing soldiers today. Many of us, including people close to Josh and members of this community, live with it every day. Josh spoke often about the need for real rehabilitation and long term care for those who served.

In his memory, and in line with what he believed in, our goal is to build a rehabilitation home and farm for soldiers coping with PTSD, together with Never Alone. A place of healing, purpose, and community. A place Josh would have been deeply involved in as a board member and leader.

We run to honor him.
We run to continue his mission.
